This set recorded live at the Lord Alfred Hotel as apart of “Weekends with Dastardly Kuts and Friends” was also my first time DJing on the same night as the NRL Broncos football game which was being played just down the road at Suncorp Stadium.
It was a cracker night and my set followed the mood of the venue, with a laid back funky vibe at the start of proceedings eventually evolving into a straight-up party by closing time.
It was definitely one of the more fun gigs I have played this year and I’m super glad I remembered to press record at the start of my set. I hope you enjoy listening to this mix as much as I enjoyed playing it!
As well as playing a couple of the slickest sets for Weekends with Dastardly Kuts and Friends, GenErik has also recently dropped a couple of stellar remixes that are going to appeal to club goers of all ages.
Words won’t do these tracks justice so just press play, have a listen and enjoy for yourself.
The Lord Alfred Hotel on the corner of Brisbane’s iconic Caxton Street recently began hosting Weekends with Dastardly Kuts and with a music policy that’s all about keeping things fresh, fun and funky, they picked the right guy for the job.
Wanting my inaugural guest to bring something special to proceedings, I just couldn’t go past one of Brisbane’s most talented and inspiring DJ’s, who also happens to be one of my best buds. DJ Galleon!
With the evening having a winter chill in the air, Galleon and I kept things toasty warm in Alfred’s Bar with a back to back set featuring something for everyone. From funky jams, dirty disco, sexy house and bumpin’ beats we rolled with what worked and with the punters digging the ol’ school flavours, that’s a big part of what we delivered.
Galleon and I had a blast and will likely be hitting the decks at the Alfie again very soon but until then, enjoy the first of many Weekends with Dastardly Kuts and Friends live mix session recordings.
So after an epic back to back DJ session with me the night before, Galleon returned to The Lord Alfred Hotel on Saturday the 6th of July to throw-down this absolutely spectacular mix.
Chock full of the smoothest, funkiest and disco-infused beats Brisbane has on offer for what turned out to be the busiest night Alfred’s Bar has seen all winter, Galleon provided the perfect soundtrack to keep the vibes high and the winter chills at bay.
